Special Masterbatches for Mulch Film
Blog / Special Masterbatches for Mulch Film
Mulch films play a pivotal role in modern agriculture for weed suppression, improved soil temperature regulation, and moisture retention. Their high durability at thinner gauges allows them to withstand all types of weather conditions. The performance of the mulch film significantly depends on the types of masterbatches used. At Perfect Colourants & Plastics Pvt.Ltd, our team of experts, with a deep understanding of your requirements for mulch films, introduces special masterbatches for mulch film applications. These masterbatches impart tensile strength, puncture resistance, even in a pesticides and insecticides environment, high opacity, and lower costs for enhanced performance. We present a top-notch range of black, white, silver, antisulphur UV, antioxidant and PPA (polymer processing aid) masterbatches to achieve the desired characteristics.
The range of black masterbatches for mulch films exhibits excellent dispersibility, covering power and high concentration of carbon black. They support exceptional dilution, mechanical strength, UV stability and weatherabilty. The Black MBs impart a deep and consistent black colour to the film, offering benefits such as light absorption and heat retention in agriculture for soil warming, weed control and overall improvement in crop quality and yields. Our high-quality carbon black improves the light stability of the films, ensuring the durability and longevity of the mulch films. The incorporation of these masterbatches in the production process allows for uniform dispersion within the plastic matrix, providing you with a product that delivers value, performance and no down time.
The silver mulch films promote increased photosynthesis in the lower leaves of the crops that can be shadowed by the upper leaves by reflecting light towards them. The silver masterbatches are specially developed for mulch films because of their outstanding effects in inhibiting weed growth, preventing micro bacterial diseases, and controlling insect damage. The silver colour reflects more UV light for the colour formation of crops and repels insects that use light for navigation.
To cater to the changing demands of agriculture, films that deal with high concentrations of pesticides, we introduce antisulphur UV masterbatches. These masterbatches are specially formulated and developed for applications with high levels of chemicals and pesticides with sulphur resistant 3rd generation that is commonly found in greenhouse fumigation. Our range of anti-sulphur masterbatches provides excellent protection for mulch films used in greenhouses and low tunnels where pesticides are used upto 5000 ppm sulphur and 250 ppm chlorine.
Mulch films are subject to prolonged environmental and climatic exposure that could lead to premature degradation. Antioxidant masterbatches prevent oxidation and thermal degradation. They are used to improve processability and reduce thermal degradation during melt processing, especially when subject to higher temperatures. Antioxidant masterbatches stabilize the colour, and physical properties to increase the service life of mulch films.
Polymer processing aid masterbatches or PPA are specially designed and developed to prevent melt fracture during the extrusion process of mulch films. These MBs are made after research and formulation in collaboration with industry specialists in the agriculture sector at our modern production facility. The melt fracture is a surface roughness on the film or other extruded components resulting from a slip action on molten polymer, leaving a die. This phenomenon is commonly seen in stronger resins such as HDPE and LLDPE. Our highly technical MB is suitable for controlling and eliminating the issue of melt fracture for a glossy and smooth finish.
