The white masterbatch is a high-quality pigment used in plastics. These MBs are extensively used for lamination, coating, multi-layer films, molding, etc. They contain titanium dioxide (TiO2), a key component that provides the white color and various other properties, in different carrier resins such as PP, PE, PS, EVA and other base carriers depending on the application requirement, like the multi-layer packaging for pharmaceuticals, agriculture, food & others.
Role of White Masterbatch for Multi-layer Film
Multi-layer films, with their unique combination of functionalities such as heat stability, barrier, stiffness, and permeability, are crucial for demanding applications like food and pharmaceutical packaging. White masterbatches play a key role in enhancing the performance of these films, offering superior tear resistance, UV protection, thermal stability, and opacity while maintaining aesthetic appeal. They ensure compatibility between the layers, thereby improving the overall performance of the film and instilling confidence in their effectiveness.
Benefits of Using White Masterbatch for Multi-layer Film
Yields excellent opacity & brightness even at low dosage
No uneven granules, contamination or pinholes
Food contact and weather resistance grade compliant
Excellent light fastness, lowest yellowness index & UV protection
Applications of White Masterbatch in Multi-layer Film
The white masterbatch is added to the multi-layer film production process to impart whiteness, brightness, opacity, and glossiness to the films. These MBs, which range from 50%, 70%, and 75% pure TiO2 content, are used in multi-layer films for flexible packaging used in FMCG and non-food applications such as agriculture, retail, construction, industrial liners, and others.
Food Packaging: The food-contact grade white MBs are used in 5 layers and 7 layers of multi-layer films primarily comprised of PA, PE, and EVOH for long-shelf life packaging of edible oils, liquid & solid containers, UHT milk, frozen food packaging and other food items to ensure freshness, durability and protection from contaminants.
Pharmaceutical Packaging: White MBs offer additional features such as anti-bacterial, UV resistance and flame-retardant properties for sterile medical packaging applications such as medical devices, surgical equipment and pharmaceutical products.
Consumer Goods & Retail: Mutli-layer films in retail packaging require an aesthetic appeal, mechanical strength, barrier properties and durability. The additive masterbatches impart various functions in the film, such as UV protection by reflecting light, antistatic properties and weather resistance.
PCPPL’s Versatile Range of White Masterbatches for Multi-layer Films
Perfect Colourants & Plastics Pvt.Ltd takes pride in manufacturing top-notch masterbatches that are specifically tailored for the film and packaging industry. As a leading white masterbatch manufacturer, we offer white MBs in pure white and blue tones featuring different loading of Rutile grade TiO2 from 30% to 70%. Depending on the applications, PE, PS, PP and EVA base carriers are used to manufacture these MBs. It supports a low yellowness index, excellent brightness, opacity and UV & weather resistance. We use premium Rutile grade titanium dioxide that reflects light, reinforcing brightness, superior strength and uniform thickness.
Using masterbatches, manufacturers allow them to alter the properties of the films without the need for additional additives or pigments. Our masterbatches are specially formulated to improve the overall efficiency of the film extrusion process. It ensures a smooth flow and uniform dispersion of additives and pigments within the polymer matrix. Our tailored-made formulations enhance film efficiency, allowing for thinner films with excellent functionality, leading to material savings and lower production costs.
